The Manam Resettlement Authority has an oversight Board, whose functions and powers are to ensure the proper, efficient and economical performance of the Authority’s operations. The Board has power to do all things necessary or convenient to be done for or in connection with the performance of its functions under the Act.
The Board Members of the Authority are prescribed in the Act, except for the Chairman of the Board, who shall be an eminent and respected person appointed by the National Executive Council (NEC). In October 2018, the NEC appointed Sir. Ken Fairweather, CBE, as the Chairman of the Manam Resettlement Authority Board.
The Authority shall appoint a Chief Executive Office (CEO) who shall be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Authority and the implementation of the policies and decisions of the Board, including recruitment of the staff of the Authority.
The Department of Provincial and Local-level Government Affairs (DPLGA) shall monitor the performance of the Authority. DPLGA may make recommendations or give advice, or both, to the Minister for Inter Government Relations on how to improve the performance of the Authority.
